Discovering Diversity: Respecting our Differences
Overview
This program offers a thought-provoking process for exploring cultural differences in the workplace. The goal is to start developing interpersonal relationships that help draw out our knowledge, feelings and understanding of the various human qualities basic to people with whom we work. This program is designed to address perceptions, values, and behaviors we embrace.

One Half Day
Outline
By the conclusion of the workshop, the participant will be able to:
- Describe what diversity means to them and the organization.
- Reflect on their personal comfort in working effectively with people who are different
- Identify steps they can take to improve their knowledge, understanding, acceptance,
and behavior regarding working with those who are different.
- Describe ways to create an atmosphere of respect within the organization.
Activities Include
- Completion of the Discovering Diversity Profile, which is self-administered.
- Review of the Diversity Wheel, which will help participants recognize that some
aspects of diversity people are born with and others are those we acquire, modify, or
discard through our lives.
- The Discovering Diversity Profile will identify four key areas that influence how we
respond to workforce diversity:
1. Knowledge
2. Understating
3. Acceptance
4. Behavior
